No-Fly List: NCAA Blacklists K1 De Ultimate, Seeks Criminal Prosecution

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has placed Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, on its no-fly list and petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to initiate criminal proceedings over an alleged breach of aviation safety protocols.

In letters to both offices, the NCAA requested a comprehensive investigation and possible prosecution under the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and other applicable laws.

According to NCAA spokesperson, Michael Achimugu, the incident occurred aboard ValueJet flight VK201, where Ayinde allegedly engaged in conduct that disrupted standard operational procedures and raised safety concerns. Preliminary findings indicate the flight’s pilots attempted departure from the bay without completing mandatory pre-departure clearance — an action linked to the musician’s disorderly behaviour. The pilots have since been suspended.

The Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has also advised the Airline Operators of Nigeria to extend the no-fly restriction to all commercial flights pending the conclusion of investigations.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, had earlier directed the NCAA to place Ayinde on the no-fly list. The authority stressed that all passengers, regardless of status, must comply with aviation safety standards to protect crew, passengers, and airport personnel.
